Party Time!

May 5, 2012

Today I can't pick just one or two pictures of the day. We had a big bash for Bella's 6th birthday and it was a blast! Alei planned it and it was held at Dave's house in the newly redone backyard. Seriously, the workers were finishing laying down the faux grass (looks so good!) as we walked up 10 minutes early. The party was early in the month because Dave was assigned to be on a detail later in the month but that got rescheduled. Since the party was planned and invitations were already out they went ahead with the party. Alei did a great job with themeing, food, gift bags, etc.

I helped Alei prep the tables and food and then greeted parents. Then it was time for me to move on to my formal assignment for the day - taking Addison into the pool since Nikki couldn't be at most of the party.

Since it was a pool party Bryce and Chase were tasked as lifeguards for the pool. Eventually they let the kids into the spa Andy got drafted in. Dave even dressed them up in red shirts so they stood out!

After a short eternity (probably an hour) I was able to convince Addison to get out of the pool (it was a hard sell!) and we had some pizza. She started playing on the grass with the other kids. Bella was having such a great time with her friends I didn't see much of her but I was glad to see her happy. They had cake and then did a flip flop pinata which would not die!! I looked at my calendar at work on Monday and laughed because it seemed so apt:

Other than the pool and pinata, the other attraction was a large Ariel jumping castle. Now, Addison has been deathly afraid of jumping castles for a long time. We kept trying to get her to go in but to no avail. Nikki even got in there to try to coax her in. Longer after all the party guests left she was sitting in the opening just popping her head in. We were soooo impressed!

So it came as a complete shock when she finally went all of the way in and started bouncing around!! Dave was in there at the time and he posed for a picture so she laid down to join in the fun.

After 8 we were ready to throw in the towel but not before Dave enlisted Bella's class stuffed animal  (visiting for the weekend) into his debauchery! Somethings just don't need to be recorded in the class journal ;-)
